MEMORIAM

.

grandma, grandpa, funeral

for Grandma Jean

the sun hasn't shone
since you dimmed it that day
leaving us saddened
and forever at bay

from your kindness and love
and the scent of your being
from your comforting ways
that made our hearts sing

Never the same
will "home" ever be
though your spirit remains
we cannot see

your welcoming smile
or caring eyes
family dinners
or teary goodbyes

Left are the memories
and the cherished few
treasures you gathered
in the morning dew

surrounding your homestead
and family tree
Still a gathering place
to honour thee

Your grandchildren visit
and the great ones too
but a void remains
though the family grew

so we speak of your memory
and of years passed
of our dear person
who is never surpassed

not just a memory
but our Mother, a saint
our pillar of strength
of her family

you will live on
in the hearts that you've touched
and we pray that you know
you're eternally loved

Grandpa

an angel smiled today
no longer is She alone
Her Husband joined the heavens
in the wind his spirit blown

He arrived as she remembered
Handsome, young and grand
as the day she met him
when he took her by the hand

she led him to their son
with his curly locks of hair
it warmed his heart to see him
as he held his lad with care

no longer was he fragile
he held himself with pride
for he was with his Mother
sitting safely at her side

She sat and rocked her baby
as she had so long ago
the heavens gave her back
for she missed that child so

and now the Heavens sparkle
and the angles they do sing
four souls have reunited
with our Blessed King

so when our road is rocky
and we're tiered and all alone
Know that they'll be waiting
to lead us all back Home

Father

for what is this life
if without you
like that of the sky
void of its blue
slated in grey
battered and frail
hued in the depths
of sorrow and gale
for what is my lot
if now you're gone
how shall i flourish
find voice in your songin the right ways
how will i breathe
and face all my days
now that the sun
refuses to shine
and forever you sleep
with the Devine
please reach for my hand
through the divide
just so i know
we walk side by side

Remember Me

What will you remember
when I've passed and gone
will you see an image
or hear my spirits song

will you shed a tear
or suffice it good to say
that my soul was good
and pure in every way

will you know the mark
left by honest will
and speak of me in life
though my heart has stilled

What will you remember
when my spirits died
flicker is the hope
that my good remains alive

Everyone has a story!

Share it! I've written many poems for people that had a story to tell. Now, I invite others who would like to help turn stories into poems. It's all about people helping people through poetry. It's turning each story into something to remember. It's about feeling good. It's about turning a life event into poetry as a gift from people just like you. It's new! It's free! It's personal! It's a lot of fun!
