Chef Graduation

chef graduation poem

Chef James Choate
Graduate of Le Cordon Bleu (1895)
Paris College of Culinary Arts

The Sexsmith family celebrate you Chef James Choate for listening to your hearts desire. We love you very much. Congratulations!

To Our Graduate...

When you were little
blond and so sweet
often we'd wonder
about all that you'd be
surely an actor
or maybe a jock
a man of charisma
to whom the girls flock
So handsome that boy
with his blond curly hair
should we have known
we'd be buying cookware?
Why, yes there were signs
more than a few
you'd be successful
at whatever you'd do
Remember the morning
your little blond head
surprised his old aunt
with breakfast in bed?
how proud your Mum was
as you rattled the pans
and scrambled those eggs
with capable hands
and now you're a Chef
to whom the girls flock
but not just for looks
but your chicken stock
how impressive the honour
and talents you've learned
we're proud of your efforts
and the degree that you've earned
Congratualtions Chef Choate
for this wonderful feat
but we were just wondering
when do we eat?

Graduation (child)

My heart was a flutter
as i held you that day
life as i'd known it
to be not the same

the sun would now shine
though clouds were a cover
my tomorrows all bright
for you made me a Mother

the years passed so quickly
that baby's now grown
but this I do leave you
before you move on

chase all those rainbows
and the treasures they hold
your courage and strength
will win you the gold

fly to such heights
that few will know
don't be afraid
for I haven't let go

always I'm with you
in heart and in mind
my great love for you
you can't leave behind

for as on that day
with your beauty aglow
Still I am filled
with more pride than you know.
